Leader Group is delighted to partner with a dynamic and nurturing independent special school in Darlington to recruit an enthusiastic and committed SENDCo. This is a full-time permanent role, ideal for an experienced education professional passionate about inclusive practice and transformational leadership.

 

Position: SENDCo

Location: Bishop Auckland 

Salary: Up to £50,000 (dependent on experience)

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and coordinate targeted provision for pupils with SEN or disabilities
  • Conduct Annual, Interim, and Emergency Reviews of EHCPs in line with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Lead on interventions to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional progress
  • Provide professional guidance to staff and work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Monitor and quality assure Teaching & Learning with a focus on SEND
  • Oversee Looked After Children (LAC) and attend/review PEP meetings
  • Advise on the effective use of the SEND budget and resources
  • Line manage and deploy staff to maximise the impact of SEND provision
  • Champion inclusion and ensure all pupils access a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum

Requirements:

  • Accredited SENDCo qualification
  • Hold QTS or QTLS
  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
