Finance Manager - SME | Near Birmingham Airport | Hybrid Working | Up to £55,000

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established small to medium-sized enterprise based near Birmingham Airport to recruit a Finance Manager. This is a hands-on role leading a small finance team and playing a key part in the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

  • Working Model: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)

Role Overview:

As Finance Manager, you will take full ownership of financial management and reporting, ensuring effective financial planning, control, and compliance. You will work closely with the CEO, Finance Director, and Board, providing timely and accurate financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all day-to-day financial transactions with the support of a small finance team.

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Manage core accounting functions, including purchase, sales, and nominal ledgers, payroll, pensions, tax, credit control, gift aid, and investment oversight.

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts and financial reports.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and charitable financial requirements.

  • Develop and implement financial control systems to safeguard the organisation's assets and income streams.

Candidate Profile:

We're looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented finance professional with strong organisational and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be:

  • A confident self-starter who thrives in a dynamic SME environment.

  • A strong communicator with the ability to build collaborative relationships across the organisation.

  • Resilient, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Part-qualified (finalist) or fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar finance role within an SME environment.

  • Proven experience managing or mentoring small finance teams.
