ABC Teachers are seeking people with experience of working with children and adults who have a primary need of Autism or Speech Language and Communication.Â
In your role, you will take a proactive approach to supporting children across all areas of development, including their social, emotional, educational, and physical wellbeing. You will play a key part in fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every student is valued and supported according to their unique needs.
Your responsibilities will include providing individualised support, adapting teaching materials to suit different learning styles, and using creative problem-solving to engage students who may face significant barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and therapists to help each child access the curriculum in a way that works for them.

This carefully structured environment helps reduce anxiety and enables learners to focus and engage more effectively.
Many of the pupils you’ll be supporting have complex communication needs—a significant number are non-verbal and rely on Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems, such as PECS, communication boards, or speech-generating devices. As such, a good understanding of a range of communication methods, and a willingness to learn more, is essential for this role.
The desired Teaching Assistant will have:

A Minimum of 1-year experience in a Special Educational Needs Setting, or personal experience with SEN Support. Â

A DBS on the update service, or willingness to undergo a DBS Check. Â

A passion for supporting and caring for young people with physical and learning disabilities. Â

An Ability to work individually and take a proactive approach to student care and learning. Â
