Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Pay rate: £95.40 - £96.35
Location: Coventry
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm
Smart Education is currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants (TAs) in the Coventry area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist school environment.

Job requirements:
• Minimum Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
• Experience working with children or young people in any setting (schools, youth work, care, etc.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Resilience, empathy, and patience
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally
• Understanding of SEMH needs (or a genuine desire to learn)
Role responsibilities:
• Support and nurture pupils with SEMH needs across primary or secondary phases
• Help children to progress both socially and academically
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team to deliver engaging activities
• Provide emotional and practical support to help pupils reach their full potential
• Build trust and consistency through positive relationships
• Support with behaviour management in a therapeutic and restorative way
