Manufacturing Engineer

Location - Coventry 

Reports to - Engineering Lead

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for operational support & projects. They will apply sound technical skills towards a production engineering support based role. Analysing current systems and implementing ideas is fundamental along with supporting the operations team. This will utilise experience and knowledge gained through exposure to a wide range of functions within manufacturing engineering.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Laser & Robot programming and fault diagnosis support.
  • Continuous improvement activity.
  • Working with the operations team they will identify and implement improvements in machine efficiency, energy usage, product quality and labour efficiency.
  • Successful delivery of capital & revenue projects and suggest future investment opportunities.
  • Create specifications for new equipment, including design and buy off new equipment.
  • Deliver improvement projects to plan on time and within budget, utilising timing plans to identify tasks, resources and critical path.
  • Lead and manage internal labour, and sub-contractors assigned to projects.
  • Identify and implement energy savings.
  • Lead and deliver all Engineering changes.
  • Control associated sub-contractors using internal control procedures.
  • In all activities, comply with all relevant legislative and company HSE requirements, including risk assessments, accident prevention and investigation

Role Requirements

Essential

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and proven lean experience
  • Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, Project & PowerPoint.
  • Proven Leadership skills.
  • CAD Experience.
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable 

  • HNC minimum.
  • Minimum 5 years "hands on" experience within stampings / welding environment.
  • Knowledge of Company Certifications: IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.
  • Experience of robot programming either ABB or Fanuc robot technology.
  • Lean experience or Six Sigma trained.
  • PLC Experience – preferably Siemens S7, Alan Bradley, Omron or Mitsubishi
