This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with hands-on expertise in rotating machinery and hydroelectric generators. The role involves working across multiple sites across the UK and some Europe, so a willingness to travel is essential.Field Service Engineer / Mechanical Engineer - Key responsibilities:
  • Provide overall guidance and oversight for team safety and all related operations
  • Create detailed assessments of potential hazards and outline procedural steps (RAMS) to manage risks, while clearly defining work scope for both team members and the client
  • Ensure all relevant personnel, including the Quality Engineer and client representatives, are fully informed of RAMS
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to build a practical and achievable schedule that reflects staffing needs and estimated timelines
  • Track project performance against the established timeline and introduce solutions to address delays or risks to progress
Skills & Experience required:
  • Skilled professional in fitting 
  • Completed an apprenticeship and holds a technical qualification from a further education institution
  • Holds a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent technical credential
  • Proven hands-on background working on-site with high-voltage AC and DC rotating machinery, including motors and generators
  • Strong track record in servicing vertical hydroelectric generators 
  • Proactive, adaptable, and safety-aware team player with strong communication skills
  • Practical experience in conducting risk analyses, understanding electrical safety protocols, performing inspections, and taking precision measurements
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with own car and passport
