Quality Engineer

Our client is leading manufacturer of high-performance personal protective equipment (PPE), specialising in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection. They are looking to hire a Quality Engineer into their business to be based at their site in Crawley with some occasional travel to their site in Redhill.

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring safety boots meet high standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Focuses on improving manufacturing processes, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Support production with day-to-day quality engineering
  • Lead investigations into non-conformances and customer complaints using 8D methodology
  • Manage Change Deviation Requests (CDRs) and concessions
  • Conduct internal and external audits
  • Analyse and report KPIs monthly
  • Handle supplier returns and corrective actions
  • Support calibration and inspection testing
  • Develop quality control plans and assist with FMEAs

Requirements:

  • Diploma or equivalent in Quality/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience in a similar role (PPE or engineering industry experience preferred)
  • Proficient in root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, FMEA)
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management
  • Proactive and self-motivated
