Job Title: Housing AssistantLocation: Crawley RH10 Hourly Rate: £16.05 per hour (LTD)Contract Duration: 2–3 months (starting 22 May 2025)Hours: 37 per week 9-5:30About the Role A local authority in Crawley is seeking a proactive and organised Housing Assistant to provide administrative support to the Tenancy Services team. This is a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality housing management service.You’ll assist with a wide range of tenancy and rent administration duties, from processing direct debits to supporting the lettings process and handling enquiries from tenants and external organisations. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.Key Responsibilities
  • Process and amend Direct Debit payments, in accordance with BACs regulations
  • Carry out weekly rent debit controls and property reconciliation procedures
  • Update the rent accounting system (e.g. processing unpaid transactions, credit balance refunds, PayPoint card production, Right to Buy closures)
  • Manage low-level rent arrears collection
  • Respond to housing-related queries, letters and requests for tenancy information
  • Assist with tenancy administration including name changes, mutual exchanges, and minor tenancy breaches
  • Support the voids and lettings process: process Notices to Quit, create adverts, book viewings, and assist with tenancy sign-ups
  • Handle routine correspondence and tasks related to Subject Access Requests, breathing space notifications and disrepair claims
  • Assist with former tenant arrears by sending initial invoices and contact letters
  • Ensure all work complies with council policies, including health and safety, equalities, and environmental standards
