Procurement Specialist – Infrastructure

Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team, in an established company that is one of the UK leading global procurement service providers.

In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, procuring and supplying a diverse selection of items and materials across the infrastructure sector, supporting clients in the UK and globally. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of knowledge, and a network of UK based manufacturers and suppliers. You will play a crucial role in connecting and negotiating with suppliers, ensuring best value outcomes for our business.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, source and obtain materials, equipment and services, achieving competitive pricing without compromising quality.
  • Liaising directly with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure quotes are secured and successfully delivered.
  • Provide customers with a proposal that meets their exact technical and commercial requirements and is compliant, competitive, clear and comprehensive.
  • Ensure the full understanding of the customer needs and exact requirements before proceeding with orders or enquiries.
  • Execute and manage supplier contracts in accordance with guidelines to optimise cost, service, quality and capital.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on credibility, capability, commercial, technical and delivery criteria, against the customer requirements.
  • Consult with line managers with bid-tabs, supplier/logistics quotations and other key information to determine bid finalisation.
  • Effectively check all sales orders against our quotation and suppliers’ quotations to ensure the order is profitable and compliant.
  • Ensure all information is accurately recorded and all tasks actioned in a timely and professional manner, including confirmation of sales orders, handover to expediting, with the correct documentation.
  • Effective time management to meet all deadlines, due dates and delivery schedules.
  • Source and build a “hitlist” of appropriate suppliers using our supplier database, file history and other in-house resources, as well as your own.
  • Develop and maintain up to date professional skills to ensure continuous delivery of a high standard procurement service.
  • Support the team by offering your expertise and undertake any other ad hoc tasks as and when required.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the infrastructure industry, equipment, suppliers and key contacts.
  • A good knowledge of construction material requirements, both for the UK and internationally.
  • A procurement background with broad mechanical and electro-mechanical understanding.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms from suppliers.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and logistics operations.
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills, with an attention to detail for evaluating supplier proposals.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge of international trade and logistics.
