Cost Engineer

Duration: 12 months
Location: Crewe/Hybrid

Purpose of the Role
Join the Purchasing team as a Cost Engineer where you'll be reporting to the Cost Engineering Leader. This role is principally responsible for evaluating product, development and investment costs for current and future product development plans at a system /part level. To work proactively towards achievement of cost target objectives with project teams, across product platforms in conjunction with the Purchasing and Engineering functions.

  • Evaluation and Control - Support and actively influence both current and on- going cost reduction programmes by providing technical and costing information
  • Working with the Module/Engineering teams to identify risks and opportunities and actively drive the achievement of opportunities and mitigate the risks.
  • Sourcing Support - Support the negotiation and decision process of new parts with in depth analysis and cost calculations
  • Process Improvements - Proactively support and implement improvements in personal, team, company and Group processes.

About you - Skills and Experience


Product Cost Management, estimating and process planning experience within a Production and Engineering environment.

Purchasing, Procurement and knowledge of automotive cost estimating, engineering practices, including Kaizen, Poke-Yoke, Kanban, value analysis, value engineering and cost modelling techniques

Whole vehicle component and system manufacturing process and materials knowledge

Practical knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing techniques and industrial engineering skills

Ideally experience with Siemens TcPCM Product Costing or similar software solutions
