Metrology Dimensional Analysis Engineer

Duration: 13 Months

Location: Crewe (5 days per week on site)

Rate: A highly competitive rate is available for suitable candidates

About the role:

Delivery of Meisterbock / Cubing & whole vehicle / part dimensional analysis activities to meet the requirements set out within the Metrology Process Description and achieve the key relevant Production Emergence Plan milestones

Responsible for all activities of a designated area of the property, vehicle or parts including but not limited to, building & measurement of components, interrogation & analysis of results, defining the root cause analysis of problems & communicating conclusions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a daily basis for designated area
  • Responsible for reporting of status of activities in local area
  • Works cross functional to deliver project requirements for the department
  • Awareness of working with suppliers (internal & external) to maturate the quality status of parts and systems
  • Understanding of Measurement First Principles
  • Understanding of fixture / vehicle build with the ability to build up designated area to correct level as set out in the PDM, AVO or RPS system
  • Ability to use suitable measurement equipment to dimensionally measure, assess and create measurement reports for parts & sub systems
  • Ability to interrogate fitment process during building of system, property or vehicle and basic understanding of reasons for deviation
  • Awareness of Engineering release level and change management
  • Analysis and management of individual dimensional / functional issues
  • Ability to provide root cause of simple dimensional / functional problems
  • Collect, manage and analyse data to produce analysis reports.
  • Actively up to date with own technology area
  • Understand relationships with partners & measurement solution partners.

Skills and experience:

  • Ability to communicate across the company in departmental forums
  • Basic knowledge of problem solving tools and their application.
  • Ability to provide basic root cause analysis of dimensional deviations for problems seen within designated part, area of property or vehicle.
  • Measurement skills suitable to part, zone of responsibility on property or vehicle
  • Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
  • Understanding of Product Emergence Process

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Working knowledge in the use optical & tactical metrology equipment
  • Working knowledge of Reference points system, Engineering drawing, GD&T.
  • Basic knowledge in CAD & Engineering based software in particular Catia & KVS
  • Comprehensive computer literacy in particular Microsoft Excel, Word & Powerpoint.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Polyworks
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Powerinspect & GOMinspect
