The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Product Quality to join a leading luxury automotive manufacturer, supporting a range of new vehicle development projects across multiple platform teams.

In this pivotal role, you’ll act as a technical product specialist within the Quality Projects & Product Team — driving the achievement of product and project requirements in line with the Product Emergence Process (PEP).

You will influence product design and concept decisions, monitor key quality metrics, and ensure customer-driven requirements are met from concept through to launch.

This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week on site (more initially for training), with flexibility around project and technical meeting schedules due to data confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical product specialist within the Quality Projects & Product Team, influencing design and concept decisions to secure improvements against customer quality targets.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of quality-critical and legislative requirements within your module area.
  • Identify and mitigate weak points through design, manufacturing, and service phases, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Generate warranty prognoses and system target settings, incorporating customer feedback and satisfaction data into continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Quality within Module Teams, attending key meetings (Quality, Module, and S-Team) and reporting status updates.
  • Manage quality deliverables throughout the full project lifecycle (PEP48) and coordinate cross-functional sign-offs.
  • Maintain and support the Quality Planning Master Schedule, ensuring all critical module activities are defined and tracked against project timing.
  • Deputise for the Quality Project Leader and Quality Planning Manager as required, supporting project milestones and key operational activities.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in automotive model development programmes, ideally within an OEM environment following a Product Emergence Process.
  • Strong understanding of management systems and processes required to develop and launch new vehicles or similarly complex products.
  • Previous experience in quality planning, part maturation, concern management, and Meisterbuck/cubing.
  • Understanding of customer satisfaction requirements for the upper luxury sector.
  • Highly computer-literate with strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Capable of influencing at all levels and facilitating effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of CAD (Catia V5), PLM systems, and surface data assessment desirable.
  • Experienced in problem-solving techniques (6 Sigma, 8D, A3) and familiar with APQP methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline, or HNC/HND with extensive relevant experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (IMechE, IET, etc.).
  • Full UK driving licence.

Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The Umbrella Pay Rate offered is inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitment’s contribution towards Employer Costs.
