About the Role
We are seeking a Buyer to join our procurement team within a heavy engineering environment. This is a pivotal role, responsible for sourcing, and managing the supply of critical materials, components, and services that support complex engineering operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier selection through to delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and inventory teams to align purchasing with operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and sustainability objectives.
- Drive improvements in OTIF (On Time in Full) delivery, stock accuracy, and vendor performance.
- Respond quickly and effectively to changing operational requirements, ensuring continuity of supply.
About You
- Proven experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Knowledge of procurement systems (SAP or similar ERP platforms preferred).
- Commercial awareness and analytical ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about continuous improvement in supply chain and procurement practices.
- Experienced in raising and managing purchase orders with accuracy and attention to detail.
