Yard Manager (with Mechanical Experience)
Circa 30k DOE
Mon- Fri Hours are flexible 40hrs per week. So can be 7-4 but will change depening on business needs and requirments. So our client is flexible on this.
Job Summary:
Our client isseeking a reliable and hands-on Yard Manager with strong mechanical experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard.
Your job will be to ensureall equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who can manage inventory, organise logistics, and perform or oversee routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and work areas.

Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, generators, small & large Agriculture machines).

Schedule and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime.

Maintain accurate records of service and repair history for all assets.

Coordinate with outside vendors for specialised repairs or part procurement when needed.

Manage incoming and outgoing inventory, deliveries, and shipments.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Assist with loading and unloading of materials when necessary.

Support logistics and operations teams with equipment allocation and yard logistics.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Mechanic, or in a similar role.

Strong mechanical background; ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs equipment (oil change, replce bulbs, looms etc)

Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a plus.

Familiarity with maintaining heavy machinery and tools.

Strong organisational and leadership skills.

Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure.
