Manpower are recruiting a Transport Team Leader to join our client in DE74!
The Transport Shift Team Leader is a first line management role with responsibility for a team of Transport operatives and drivers, ensuring that the Transport operations run smoothly.
As part of the leadership team you are required to communicate effectively with your teams in order to ensure they understand processes / current priorities, are aware of new initiatives and alert to safety or quality issues
Main Duties:
- Operations: Ensure that all Transport processes are adhered to and completed. Oversight of Transport operations, which includes domestic and special customer planning and daily road operations. Will have ownership service levels and be focused on day to day cost control and revenue recovery. Will Control, investigate and have management over mis-labelled and ADD freight due to driver error. Will be ASH cover as required.
- Leadership: First Line Management role. Ensure effective people management and fostering strong team ethics. Will be point of reference for 1st Tier Escalations and dispute Resolution. Will drive efficiency and solutions. Will 1st tier Performance manage, including RTWs, counsellings and disciplinary hearings if required.
- People: Ensure that their teams are competent and regularly updated on performance, safety and other relevant issues. Carry out investigations and counselling's in line with company policies to support the Shift Manager. Will involve constant communication via face to face, telephone and through messaging devices with drivers and other internal colleagues.
- Compliance: Management of Transport resources in accordance with company procedures and the Law. Particular care should be taken to ensure that Dangerous Goods and O License commitments are administered in a compliant manner.
- Facility: Maintain a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping and report directly to the FM of any immediate facilities faults.
- QSHE: Ensure that colleagues work safely and in accordance with work instructions appropriate for the tasks that they are engaged in. Ensure that near misses and accidents are accurately reported.
- Metrics: Required to achieve targets for productivity and quality in order to contribute to the achievement of KPI's and SLA's
- Communication: Conduct daily reviews/briefings with the team and ensure that all relevant information is cascaded to the appropriate recipients effectively and that the delivery is timely and accurate.
- Succession Planning: Identify talent at operative level and bring to the attention of the Shift Managers. Deputise for Transport Shift Managers when required.
Salary: 34,000 - 38,000 DOE
Monday to Friday 11am-7:30pm
