Astute Recruitment are excited to be working with a well-known Derby based business who are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Payroll Administrator. This role will be ideal for those who enjoy a fast-paced working environment and have a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Payroll Manager with system and process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Independently manage the payroll cycle across more than 30 groups within the business, covering a workforce of 1,000+ employees with varying pay dates
  • Collaborate with managers to resolve discrepancies before payroll submission
  • Administer all payroll-related processes including starters, leavers, sick pay, maternity leave, unpaid leave, and additional hours
  • Perform post-payroll audits, including payslip checks and payment verifications
  • Generate bulk staff payment lists and journal entries for the finance team
  • Maintain accurate employee records in the HR system and provide ad hoc reports as required
  • Respond promptly and professionally to payroll queries

What we're looking for:

  • Solid experience in end-to-end payroll processing (experience with Bright Pay Software is an advantage - training will be provided)
  • Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and confidence in using MS Office
  • Ability to manage bank payments and set up bulk transfers
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities with a sharp attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams
  • Adaptability to meet tight deadlines and support ongoing improvements
