SEN Teaching Assistant | Derby (DE22) | 95-105 per day | Long Term Role | September 2025

The Opportunity

Long Term Futures are working with a supportive specialist school in the DE22 area of Derby, dedicated to pupils aged 3-19 with a wide range of complex needs including autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and SEMH.

This is a rewarding full-time SEN Teaching Assistant role starting in September 2025. You'll be part of a collaborative team of teachers, SENCOs, and therapists, providing personalised support that makes a lasting difference to pupils' learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with autism, SEMH, and communication challenges, building independence and confidence.
  • Contribute to a calm, structured classroom using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assist with personal care and life skills development (training provided).
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support.

Candidate Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Education, Childcare, or Health & Social Care.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Confident with autism, SEMH, or sensory needs.
  • Calm, empathetic, and adaptable with strong teamwork skills.
  • Committed to safeguarding and inclusive education.
