Role Overview:

Location: Dorset

Pay Rate: £12-14 per hour or £22,102.72 - £24,103.93 per annum

Job Type: Permanent 40 hours per week, Term time only

As a Teaching Assistant at this special school in Dorset, your primary role will be to support both students and teachers in delivering a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum. You'll work closely with SEN students aged 11-16 years, helping them to achieve their academic targets and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep students safe and well by following safeguarding rules and supporting their emotional needs.
  • Help with learning by supporting lessons and giving extra help to individuals or small groups.
  • Encourage positive behaviour using strategies that support students' social and emotional growth.
  • Work with teachers to plan, prepare, and review lessons and learning activities.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to support learning and communication.
  • Support the whole child by working with care staff and therapists to meet each student's full range of needs.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of safeguarding principles and experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, good numeracy and literacy skills, and competent ICT skills.
  • Other: Eligibility to work in the UK, satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, and a full, valid driving licence (depending on location) may be required.
