Role Overview:
Location: Dorset
Pay Rate: £12-14 per hour or £22,102.72 - £24,103.93 per annum
Job Type: Permanent 40 hours per week, Term time only
As a Teaching Assistant at this special school in Dorset, your primary role will be to support both students and teachers in delivering a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum. You'll work closely with SEN students aged 11-16 years, helping them to achieve their academic targets and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep students safe and well by following safeguarding rules and supporting their emotional needs.
- Help with learning by supporting lessons and giving extra help to individuals or small groups.
- Encourage positive behaviour using strategies that support students' social and emotional growth.
- Work with teachers to plan, prepare, and review lessons and learning activities.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to support learning and communication.
- Support the whole child by working with care staff and therapists to meet each student's full range of needs.

Requirements:
- Qualifications: Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is required.
- Experience: Prior experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
- Knowledge: Understanding of safeguarding principles and experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, good numeracy and literacy skills, and competent ICT skills.
- Other: Eligibility to work in the UK, satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, and a full, valid driving licence (depending on location) may be required.
