Teaching Assistant

Location: Dorking - staff transport availabe to and from work from Dorking mainline station
Salary: 25,000 per annum (40 hr working week - term time only)
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: ASAP following interview

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential as a Teaching Assistant? Do you have experience undertaking learning support assistant duties with pupils in an educational or care setting?

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school environment catering for pupils with a range of needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

About the Role

As a TA, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

You will:

  • Support an assigned tutor group throughout their school day, including lessons and transitions.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to implement effective teaching strategies tailored to each pupil's needs and EHCP targets.
  • Deliver adapted learning content to small groups or individuals as directed by the teacher.
  • Support positive behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
  • Assist with off site trips, enrichment activities, break times, and lunchtimes to ensure pupil safety and participation.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people within a classroom or care setting OR personal experience building relationships with young adults
  • Understanding of autism, learning disabilities, or SEMH needs (training can be provided)
  • Ability to build rapport and motivate pupils to engage in learning
  • Confident in following teacher instruction while also being proactive in offering support within lessons
  • Committed to promoting safeguarding and well-being in line with school policies
  • Professional, resilient, and dedicated to supporting each pupil's unique journey
