We’re seeking a Grid Manager to take responsibility for the creation, socialisation and delivery of the grid strategy. In this role, you’ll actively manage all aspects of grid activity across the portfolio. The position will initially focus on the Irish power market, with scope to expand over time. Responsibilities include grid connection applications, delivery, commissioning and optimisation across the portfolio.
About the role:
Work with asset teams in Ireland and the UK to develop and deliver the organisation’s grid asset strategy
Maintain a strong working knowledge of key grid and regulatory developments, contributing to consultation responses and industry forums as a subject matter expert
Support the business in interpreting technical grid policy in both the UK and Ireland, identifying and refining opportunities for existing and new grid-based projects
Represent the organisation in engagement with TSO and DSO stakeholders and key industry bodies
Identify suitable opportunities for grid location and technology solutions
Work closely with asset and project teams to scope, assess and negotiate technical and commercial aspects of thermal generation, solar, turbine and BESS supply, EPC tenders and contracts, and track performance against requirements
Provide assumptions for project value drivers related to network connection and operational costs, losses, constraints and curtailment
Carry out technical due diligence on potential investment opportunities, working collaboratively with SMEs across the business
What we’re looking for:
Extensive knowledge of UK and Irish grid connection, testing and compliance processes
Proven experience managing and optimising grid connections through all project stages, from site selection and feasibility, connection applications and offers, through design, construction, commissioning, energisation and commercial operation
Strong understanding of grid-related value drivers such as constraints, curtailment, firmness and loss factors
Ability to work independently to deadlines, seeking guidance where appropriate
Strong stakeholder management experience across TSOs, DSOs, equipment manufacturers and electrical contractors
Experience undertaking site feasibility assessments
Knowledge of Grid Code requirements for a range of project types including thermal, renewable, solar and flexible demand
Understanding of power markets and project value drivers is advantageous.
