We’re seeking a Grid Manager to take responsibility for the creation, socialisation and delivery of the grid strategy. In this role, you’ll actively manage all aspects of grid activity across the portfolio. The position will initially focus on the Irish power market, with scope to expand over time. Responsibilities include grid connection applications, delivery, commissioning and optimisation across the portfolio.

About the role:

Work with asset teams in Ireland and the UK to develop and deliver the organisation’s grid asset strategy

Maintain a strong working knowledge of key grid and regulatory developments, contributing to consultation responses and industry forums as a subject matter expert

Support the business in interpreting technical grid policy in both the UK and Ireland, identifying and refining opportunities for existing and new grid-based projects

Represent the organisation in engagement with TSO and DSO stakeholders and key industry bodies

Identify suitable opportunities for grid location and technology solutions

Work closely with asset and project teams to scope, assess and negotiate technical and commercial aspects of thermal generation, solar, turbine and BESS supply, EPC tenders and contracts, and track performance against requirements

Provide assumptions for project value drivers related to network connection and operational costs, losses, constraints and curtailment

Carry out technical due diligence on potential investment opportunities, working collaboratively with SMEs across the business

What we’re looking for:

Extensive knowledge of UK and Irish grid connection, testing and compliance processes

Proven experience managing and optimising grid connections through all project stages, from site selection and feasibility, connection applications and offers, through design, construction, commissioning, energisation and commercial operation

Strong understanding of grid-related value drivers such as constraints, curtailment, firmness and loss factors

Ability to work independently to deadlines, seeking guidance where appropriate

Strong stakeholder management experience across TSOs, DSOs, equipment manufacturers and electrical contractors

Experience undertaking site feasibility assessments

Knowledge of Grid Code requirements for a range of project types including thermal, renewable, solar and flexible demand

Understanding of power markets and project value drivers is advantageous.
