At Contek, we're proud to represent a client based in Dudley, specializing in reactive and planned mechanical engineering services across various industries including food, automotive, and nuclear sectors. As our representation expands, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Shop and Fabrication support engineer.

The Fitter will provide support to the gearbox repair department by dismantling & assembling of all types of industrial gearboxes and pumps/fans/blowers/motors within Industrial rotating equipment. whilst providing a detailed inspection report highlighting operational issues with the machine being assessed.

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00pm

Main Duties:

  • Involvement of day-to-day workshop in relation to quality, H&S and environmental activities.
  • Dismantling of all types of gearboxes producing concise accurate reports for management
  • Building, stripping and fitting of pumps, fans, blowers and motors within industrial rotating equipment.
  • Assembling gearboxes accurately so they are ready for installation
  • Interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and computer-generated programmes
  • To be able to work under minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work you undertake
  • Be pro-active in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business
  • Ensure standard work practices and procedures are being followed
  • Responding to emergency situations
