R & B H Alderson Ltd is seeking a joiner to join our team in Durham, Durham.

Position Summary:

Join our team of experienced and skilled tradesmen who are responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of woodwork, doors, windows, fireplaces, and other custom woodwork, including good knowledge of house extensions and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working team player who is willing to learn and work hard for the company. This is an entry level position that offers the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of woodworking tools and equipment including power tools, hand tools, chisels, saws, drills, etc.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand basic carpentry concepts
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather (summer)
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record (Required)
• Willingness to follow all safety policies and procedures
• achieved at least level 2 carpentry & joinery course
• 5 years plus experience in joinery

Responsibilities:

• Install woodwork and other custom woodwork using proper techniques such as using chisels for hand sanding, using power tools such as power drill or sawzall for cutting long boards, etc.
• Repair or replace damaged wood paneling or trimming using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Install fireplaces or other large wood furniture.
• Install new wood furniture or replacement material such as vinyl flooring or countertops.
