Senior Practitioner - Children in Care Team

Role Overview:

As a Senior Practitioner in the Children in Care Team, you will manage a caseload of children and young people in care, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. You will work closely with children, families, and multi-agency partners to deliver high-quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Oversee and manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are met through comprehensive care plans.

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with children, families, and other professionals.

  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work with social workers, health professionals, education providers, and other agencies to ensure coordinated support.

  • Court Work: Prepare and present reports for child protection conferences and court proceedings.

  • Supervision and Mentorship: Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff, supporting their professional development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Social Work Qualification (e.g., BA or MA in Social Work, DipSW).

  • Social Work England Registration.

  • At least 2 years' experience in child protection or children in care services.

  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in court work and preparing legal documentation.

  • Familiarity with Signs of Safety or other safeguarding models.

  • Experience in multi-agency working and partnership building.
