Primary Teaching Assistant – Classroom Support!
Location: Eastbourne
Contract: Temporary (with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate)
Hours: Full-time
Pay: £89 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
We are currently looking to appoint a Primary Teaching Assistant (TA) to join one of our welcoming partner primary schools in Eastbourne. This is a full-time position offering immediate start and a chance to make a real impact in the classroom. You’ll be working closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of pupils, helping to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
This role will include a mix of general classroom support, small group work, and some 1:1 intervention where needed. Experience within primary education is ideal, but we are equally open to hearing from adaptable, enthusiastic individuals from childcare or youth work backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support to pupils across a range of abilities.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and behaviour management.
- Deliver targeted support to individuals and small groups as directed.
- Help maintain a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Foster a nurturing and safe learning space where every child feels valued.
To be successful in this role, it is desirable if you:
- Have experience supporting children within a primary school or similar setting
- Have supported pupils with additional needs including autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health challenges
- Understand how to work with pupils following EHCPs or specific support plans
- Can help create an engaging and safe learning environment
- Are calm, patient, and confident in behaviour support strategies
- Are adaptable and proactive, able to follow the lead of the teacher while offering your own insight and initiative
To work with GSL Education as a Primary TA, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
