Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH – Primary
Location: Eastbourne
Salary Range: £89 - £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Are you someone who thrives on making a difference in children’s lives? Do you have the resilience and empathy to support primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a nurturing primary school in Eastbourne.
This role is perfect for individuals who have experience in behaviour support, care work, youth work, or similar roles, and are passionate about helping children overcome emotional and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage positively with learning.
- Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
- Support class teachers in maintaining a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Help pupils develop social skills, self-regulation techniques, and confidence.
- Promote positive relationships and build trust with pupils to reduce anxiety and challenging behaviours.
- Monitor and record progress, contributing to regular reviews and interventions.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH or challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
- A calm, nurturing, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies.
- A background in youth work, support work, or psychology is advantageous.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
