Are you a qualified accountant with a passion for financial integrity and strategic impact?Our client, a leading educational institution, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making at a respected organisation.

?? About the Role

As Financial Accountant, you will support the Finance Manager in delivering accurate monthly and year-end accounts, managing statutory returns, and leading on VAT compliance. You’ll also take ownership of the Accounts Receivable team, contribute to audit processes, and help drive improvements in financial systems and procedures.

?? Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and annual accounts and balance sheet reports.
  • Ensure timely reconciliations and accurate financial documentation.
  • Lead VAT return preparation and liaise with HMRC and external advisors.
  • Maintain and develop financial systems and cash-flow reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with recommendations.
  • Oversee payroll accuracy and statutory submissions.
  • Manage and develop the Accounts Receivable team.

? What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification (SCQF Level 9) and full CCAB accountancy qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication, prioritisation, and analytical skills.

Desirable:

  • Background in education or charity sector finance.
  • Treasury and cash-flow management experience.
