Avenue Scotland are currently recruiting an excellent opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations professional to join a reputable and well-established legal firm. You will play a key role in shaping and maintaining a positive employee experience, supporting leaders and employees in fostering a fair, consistent, and engaging workplace culture.

This role will suit someone with strong knowledge of employment law, experience handling complex casework, and a passion for delivering pragmatic, people-centred solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver effective employee relations strategies and initiatives that support positive working relationships.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on policies, procedures, and best practice across all aspects of employee relations.
  • Lead on grievance, disciplinary, and capability matters-ensuring thorough, timely, and impartial investigations.
  • Support managers in addressing performance concerns and developing action plans where necessary.
  • Act as a mediator to resolve workplace conflicts and facilitate constructive dialogue between employees and leaders.
  • Deliver coaching and training to managers on handling ER matters confidently and in line with company policy.
  • Review and analyse ER trends and data to identify risks and areas for improvement, providing recommendations to enhance employee engagement.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Diversity & Inclusion, to ensure consistent and inclusive policy application.
  • Monitor employee morale and propose initiatives to maintain a high-performing, engaged workforce.
  • Support generalist HR activity where required and contribute to broader HR projects.



Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar employee relations-focused HR role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex casework with a calm, methodical, and impartial approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Proven mediation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience using HRIS and/or case management systems.



Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience within a professional services or regulated environment.
  • CIPD qualification or currently working towards it (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Additional qualifications or training in mediation or employee relations.
