Our longstanding client based in Brimsdown is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their small, dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied position providing support to the Finance Director. The role is full-time and office-based, with working hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:00am to 2:00pm on Fridays (39 hours per week). The position is available on a temp-to-perm basis, with an immediate start and a competitive salary of £28,000 to £30,000, depending on experience.

Duties include:

  • Providing accounting and clerical assistance to the Financial Director
  • Accurately, preparing and maintaining accounting documents and records
  • Collating and filing financial documentation
  • Perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.
  • Responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. Use accounting software programs to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. Should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers.
  • To ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
  • Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
  • Provide assistance and support to company personnel
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
  • Constantly update job knowledge

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk or Accounts payable clerk
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
  • Data entry and word processing skills
  • Well organised
