Overview

We are seeking experienced Upholstery Sewing Machinists to join our team for a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role involves repairing office chairs for government contracts, and we are offering a competitive rate of 16 per hour.



Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain sewing machines used in the upholstery repair process
  • Sewing, joining, reinforcing, or decorating materials using various machine techniques
  • Ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail in upholstery repairs
  • Collaborate with the upholstery team to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines in the workplace


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in upholstery or sewing machine operation
  • Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and related tools
  • Ability to interpret work orders and follow specific instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills


Day-to-day

  • Arrive at the workshop at 9am and engage in daily team meetings
  • Work closely with the upholstery team to prioritise repair tasks
  • Operate sewing machines to complete repair projects
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient production and meet deadlines
  • Clock out at 5pm and update task progress with the team
