Our client, an internationally respected organisation, is seeking a curious and driven Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Accounts Assistant, you will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the accounts receivable function, supporting cash collection, and assisting with accounts payable processes. You'll play a key part in maintaining robust financial controls and supporting the wider finance team.

The responsibilities:

  • Manage and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger, including self-billing, pro-forma, intercompany accounts, and new customer setups.
  • Allocate daily customer payments from remittances, bank statements, and credit card receipts accurately.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries promptly to reduce overdue balances and issue credit notes as necessary.
  • Prepare and update weekly receipts forecasts based on aged debtor reports and sales projections to support cash flow planning.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers and internal teams to facilitate debt collection and resolve account queries efficiently.
  • Monitor customer credit limits, conduct credit risk assessments, and enforce credit control policies, including account holds and debt recovery actions.
  • Support accounts payable with supplier reconciliations, intercompany transactions, payment processing, and holiday cover duties.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations, petty cash management, and produce regular sales and financial reports as required.

The candidate:

  • Demonstrated experience in credit control and general accounts, with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
  • AAT qualification would be beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Confident communicator with a professional approach and keen attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small, fast-paced team.
