Design Manager – ExeterA leading, locally based contractor, renowned for delivering some of the region’s most iconic projects, is looking to strengthen their team with the appointment of an experienced Design Manager. This contractor works across both public and private sectors, providing comprehensive construction services including design and build, refurbishment, and associated fit-out works for clients spanning Government, Local Authorities, Healthcare, and Education.As the Design Manager, this role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring you to wear many hats. You will collaborate with site teams, senior management, consultants, and architects to manage and oversee the design process effectively.Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project information, including the employer’s requirements, contractor’s proposals, and design team appointments.
  • Ensure the timely submission and approval of all reviewable design data to meet project deadlines.
  • Assist in the commercial and technical review of specialist subcontract tender returns, establishing interfaces and reviewing alternative designs.
  • Prepare technical submissions for alternative designs, systems, components, products, or material proposals for client approval.
  • Ensure the design information meets the required quality standards and aligns with project schedules.
  • Progress the approval of specified design certificates, including CDM, BREEAM, and Secure by Design.
Requirements:
  • Proficient in MS Office and SharePoint.
  • HNC / Degree in a construction-related field.
  • Experience working with JCT/NEC/Design & Build contracts.
  • A solid understanding of sustainability in design.
  • Relevant driving license.
