Interim Finance Manager

Interim Finance Manager job in Newton Abbot, Devon

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager ready to take the lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for a period of at least 3 months.

Our client is seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join the leadership team and take full ownership of the finance function. This is a key role that will see you managing day-to-day operations, leading a team of three, and contributing to strategic financial planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the finance department.
• Manage, develop, and appraise a finance team of three.
• Monitor financial transactions including payroll, invoicing, and general operations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and analyse P&L variances.
• Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for internal and external reporting.
• Liaise with auditors and support budget setting and forecasting processes.
• Provide commentary and financial insight to support strategic decisions.
• Deliver detailed short-term cashflow reporting and treasury management.
• Oversee weekly/monthly payroll and CIS payments.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, CIS, corporation tax).
• Manage accounts receivable and payable processes.
• Maintain and optimise accounting software systems.
• Analyse KPI variances and support ongoing business performance reviews.
• Support ad hoc projects and HR compliance initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a senior finance role, preferably within a fast-moving or construction environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Commercially minded with strong business acumen.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Sage L50
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
