Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Health and safety Officer to join their team
This is initially a 6 month contract which may be extended for the right applicant
You will
- Provide professional advice, guidance & instruction on health and safety legislation, corporate policy and good practice across a range of disciplines within the organisation.
- Work with Council employees and other stakeholders to influence the development of a positive health and safety culture.
- Undertake inspection, audits, investigations and monitoring to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, corporate policy and procedures.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures relating to technical activities for health & safety.
- To provide technical and administrative support to the Corporate Health and Safety Service.
- To develop and deliver training in support of the corporate H&S training programme using a variety of methods - e.g. tool box talks, workshops etc.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety management systems. For example, risk assessments in COSHH, PPE, PUWER, accident and incident monitoring and report on non-compliance to effect change.
- Deputise for Environmental Health and Community Safety Manager during absence of leave and liaise closely with Health and Safety Compliance Lead officers in Property Services, Housing Services and their respective Works Surveyors.
- Assist the Business Regulation Team, when required, to provide advice on matters of Health and Safety at work.
