Assistant Town PlannerSouth West England | 1-2 Years' Experience | Land & Development Focus | RTPI Pathway Support

An established, multi-disciplinary property consultancy in the South West is looking for an Assistant Planner to join their Planning & Development team.

With 150 years of regional heritage and a strong reputation for delivering across estate agency, rural consultancy, and development services, this firm works collaboratively across 22 offices to serve a diverse portfolio of clients-residential, rural, and commercial.

Now, they're expanding their planning team and seeking an early-career planner with an RTPI-accredited degree, a passion for development, and a desire to grow with the business.

The Role

You'll be working alongside experienced Chartered Planners and Surveyors, supporting planning applications, policy reviews, appraisals, and appeals. The role offers fantastic exposure to both urban and rural projects, including residential development, change of use, and land promotion-often in partnership with the in-house design, agricultural, and agency teams.

Expect variety, challenge, and a supportive environment where you'll be encouraged to take ownership as your skills grow.

What They're Looking For

  • 1-2 years' experience in a planning role (private or public sector).

  • RTPI-accredited degree (working towards chartered status).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interest in development-led planning and rural land.

  • A proactive mindset, keen to contribute and learn.

What's on Offer

  • A collaborative, regionally respected firm with over 200 professionals across the West Country.

  • Direct access to in-house design, agency, and consultancy teams-true multi-disciplinary experience.

  • Ongoing support with your APC and professional development.

  • A people-first culture with long-term career progression routes.

  • A varied portfolio of work across a mix of planning disciplines-no two days the same.

If you're looking for a role where you can grow your planning career within a well-respected and friendly firm, gain hands-on project experience, and be part of shaping development across the South West, we'd love to hear from you.
