We are currently seeking experienced Biomedical Scientists specialising in Histology to join our team on a locum basis.
Role OverviewAs a Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by examining tissues and cells. This position involves working within NHS laboratories, performing a range of histological tests and procedures to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnostic Testing: Conduct a variety of histological tests, including special stains, immunocytochemistry, molecular testing, and enzyme histochemistry.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, ensuring accuracy and precision in all procedures.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of laboratory practice, adhering to NHS protocols and guidelines.
- Data Management: Accurately record and interpret test results, maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other Biomedical Scientists and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
- HCPC Registration: Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience: Proven UK experience as a Biomedical Scientist in Histology within the NHS.
- Skills: Proficiency in microtomy, cutting a minimum of 250 H&E biopsies per day, and handling 30+ blocks per hour.
- Flexibility: Ability to work various shifts and adapt to different NHS sites as required.
