We have been instructed on an exciting opportunity for you to join a well-established and reputable law firm in Morayshire. About the Role

As a Family Law Solicitor with general litigation experience, you will manage a diverse caseload, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients. Your responsibilities will include handling matters related to child custody, financial settlements, civil disputes, contractual claims and debt recovery (including personal injury). You will also represent clients in Sheriff Court and, where necessary, in the Court of Session.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of family law and general litigation matters from inception to conclusion
  • Advise clients on all aspects of family law, child arrangements, cohabitation and financial disputes
  • Draft legal documents and court papers
  • Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients in mediation and alternative dispute resolution settings
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and client advice
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and delivering excellent service
  • Stay updated on relevant legal developments and changes in legislation

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in Scotland with ideally 2 to 5 years PQE in general litigation and family law (other levels of experience will be considered)
  • Strong understanding of Scottish family law, with practical experience in dealing with child custody and financial matters
  • Experience in handling general litigation cases, including civil disputes, contractual claims, and debt recovery (including personal injury) – experience in all of these areas isn't a pre-requisite as this firm offers first-rate training
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively and work to deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services
  • Proficiency in using legal case management systems and other relevant software
