General Foreman/ Civils 

Location: Friston, Suffolk

Pay Rate: £300 - £350 per day

To supervise and coordinate the daily site activities of civil works including groundworks, drainage, concrete, and structural operations. Ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise site operations and manage crews to deliver civil works effectively.

• Ensure health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards are followed.

• Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

• Monitor daily progress and report to the site/project manager.

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Organize equipment, materials, and workforce in accordance with project plans.

• Ensure that work complies with relevant legislation and industry standards.

• Maintain site diaries and records of work completed.

• Provide leadership, motivation, and mentoring to the workforce.

• Manage and report on plant, labour, and materials usage.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven experience as a General Foreman in civil engineering projects.

• Background in highways, earthworks, drainage, structures, or utilities.

• SMSTS or SSSTS certification (Site Safety Plus Scheme).

• CSCS card – Gold or higher.

• First Aid at Work certification.

• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction processes.

• Ability to read technical drawings and communicate them effectively to site teams.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Competent in Microsoft Office and project reporting tools.

Desirable:

• NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Construction Site Supervision or equivalent.

• Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor certification.

• Experience with digital site management tools (e.g., Fieldview, Aconex, Procore).
