LNT Construction Limited, part of LNT Care Developments are looking for a Construction Buyer for the day to day responsibilities for the purchasing of materials and plant for all sites and a focus on identifying, improving and leading processes and controls within the buying team.
Key Responsibilities:
- To obtain a suitable range of quotes and availability schedule of materials, negotiating effectively to ensure best value is obtained.
- Responsible for a projects workstream to improve processes and controls across the buying department working closely with the head of procurement and finance director.
- To deal effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials, communicating with colleagues to ensure work planning is subject to minimal disruption.
- To identify potential savings through continuous review of product range, supply chain and construction practices.
- To advise on the cost impact of supply or schedule change and variations, liaising with the Finance and Site Manager/Contracts Manager, as required.
- Raising purchase orders for materials and plant.
- Management and execution of order requisitions received from sites.
- Dealing with and resolving invoice queries.
- Liaising with site teams on a day-to day-basis.
- Identifying potential suppliers and new products
- Contacting a range of suppliers to obtain quotations and agree on delivery times.
- To work closely with the Site Managers to ensure they remain on track with the program.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience within buying - Experience within construction is preferred but not essential
- Sage 200 Experience is preferred but not essential
- Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
- Ability to communicate with different levels of organisation both internally and externally
- Problem solving skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office including Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
