School Kitchen Assistant

As a school kitchen assistant, you'll assist in preparing and serving meals, ensuring a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, and adhering to food safety regulations, working as part of a team to provide catering services to the school community.

Key responsibilities of a School Kitchen Assistant:

Food preparation:

Assist in preparing various food items, including vegetables, salads, sauces following recipes and instructions.

Serving:

Assist with setting up the service counter, serving food to students and staff and clearing tables after meals.

Cleaning:

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment by washing dishes, cleaning equipment and sweeping/mopping floors.

Food Safety:

Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, including proper food storage, labelling and temperature control.

Inventory:

Assist with managing food supplies and inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels.

Teamwork:

Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including cooks and supervisors, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Other Duties:

These may include setting up dining furniture, preparing the dining room for service, and other tasks as assigned.

As this role is to work in a school, an Enhanced DBS is required.
