Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabrication Estimator to join a forward-thinking engineering business. This role will involve preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a range of specialist welding and fabrication projects, often involving high-performance materials and complex assemblies.

The Fabrication Estimator will:

  • Analyse technical drawings, RFQs, and specifications to produce precise quotations, ensuring all processes — from distortion control and post-weld treatments to testing and compliance — are properly considered.
  • You will play a vital role in supporting the welding department, offering technical advice, troubleshooting support, and ensuring all work adheres to ISO 3834 and related welding standards.
  • Collaboration is key: you’ll work closely with Production, Engineering, and Purchasing teams to create efficient and cost-effective project plans. This is a technically demanding role that requires both strong practical experience and analytical capability — ideal for a candidate seeking to make a tangible impact within a growing, quality-driven business.


Skills & Experience:

  • Time-served welder/fabricator or equivalent technical background.
  • Proven experience as a Fabrication Estimator within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, FCAW) and materials (S690QL, duplex, Inconel, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T.
  • Solid knowledge of ISO 3834 and familiarity with ASME IX, AWS D1.1, or EN standards.
  • Understanding of post-weld operations (machining, NDT, QA processes).
  • Competent in ERP/MRP systems and estimating software.
