Duties of this role are:-

  • Perform dimensional and surface measurements in accordance with design specifications, utilising microscopes, hand tools, and both contact and optical measurement systems.
  • Generate comprehensive inspection reports and effectively communicate technical information to key stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of continuous quality improvement initiatives by collaborating with the product engineering and validation teams to establish detailed requirements.
  • Work alongside colleagues, customers, and suppliers while researching new technologies to enhance departmental capabilities in alignment with product development and program requirements.
  • Execute measurement trials and conduct capability analysis.
  • Oversee the calibration and maintenance of measurement equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and the Quality Management System, specifically IATF 16949 standards.
  • Contribute to departmental goals, budget management, performance metrics, and uphold quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a relevant industry or precision engineering.
  • Applied knowledge of measurement best practices.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional metrology standards and surface finish standards.
  • Proficient in using manual and digital microscopes, as well as contact and optical 3D metrology equipment.
  • Experience in writing measurement programs and automating processes.
  • Familiarity with imaging processing techniques.
  • Practical experience in 3D metrology software and its associated principles.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Python, and VBA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong motivation to learn new skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines when required.
  • Good understanding of 5S principles and workplace organization.
