Caledonia Recruitment is currently assisting a leading and national Manufacturing company to recruit a Quality Manager to join their team.

The right person will be responsible for leading and maintaining quality management for the multi-site manufacturing environment for both Glasgow & Birmingham. They will ensure the company maintains the requirements for the appropriate quality certifications and that customer concerns and site quality issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

Ensure adherence to h&s guidelines as well as legal obligations
Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and company objectives.
Strong understanding of welding defects, required standards, troubleshooting, and repair methods.
Create and implement best practice policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
Managing and reducing Non-Conformances and rectify quality issues.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to optimise processes and enhance product quality.
Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
Lead and manage Quality team and provide technical leadership, skill-building and support to team. Develop action plans to execute initiatives, implement new ideas and best practices
Providing guidance, mentoring and training to ensure the teams success and growth
Actively lead the reduction of Customer PPMs (Parts Per Million), Warranty, Cost of Poor Quality and in-house scrap and waste.
Implementing and maintaining all quality control procedures from the incoming inspection of material to the in-process control in production, until the final control of finished goods before delivery to the customer by the companys quality control standards.
Address customer feedback to ensure products meet or exceed expectations, driving a customer-focused approach.
Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.
Collaborate with departments like production and engineering to resolve quality issues and enhance processes.
Oversee supplier quality audits, analyse performance, and drive supplier quality assurance improvements.
Engage with procurement dept to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
Set requirements for suppliers and monitor their compliance
Keep accurate documentation, perform statistical analysis and develop a set of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Report on Quality activities on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators).
Oversee all current and new product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
Liaise with the HSE team to maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental standards (ISO 45001 & 14001).
5% travel to Birmingham site and supplier audits.
