With a growing portfolio in the energy sector, particularly in substation developments, this company is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities on civils-based substation projects.

Your new role

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure that all design outputs meet technical, commercial, and programme requirements. Your role will involve overseeing design coordination, managing interfaces between disciplines, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a Design Manager role within civil engineering, ideally with exposure to substation or energy infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of civil design principles, construction methodologies, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple design packages and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with relevant design software and document control systems
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Degree-qualified in civil engineering or a related discipline; chartered status is desirable
