We are proud to be representing a respected and well-established civil engineering contractor with an outstanding track record of delivering some of the UK’s most recognisable and technically complex infrastructure projects.

Operating across a variety of sectors—including water, marine, land remediation, and energy—our client is seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will involve work on projects across Scotland, so flexibility to travel and stay away from home when required is essential.

The Role:

As a qualified Civil Engineer, you will take on the role of Sub Agent, contributing to a wide range of responsibilities spanning technical delivery, quality assurance, programming, and contract management. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and grow into a well-rounded engineering professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain close awareness of programme targets and drive site activities to meet key deadlines.
  • Manage site operations effectively to ensure works proceed smoothly and safely.
  • Attend and contribute to pre-start and progress meetings on site.
  • Prepare and review site documentation including site plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Implement effective cost control and programming measures.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental management systems.
  • Monitor and report progress to ensure alignment with project timelines and standards.
  • Produce detailed reports to track contractual milestones and interface with the client.

Requirements:

  • Minimum HNC qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience in civil engineering project delivery.
  • Proficient in setting out and related technical practices.
  • Experience working with a principal contractor.
  • Valid SMSTS and First Aid certifications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work on projects throughout Scotland.

Desirable:

  • Roads and Street Works certificate.
