Location: Glasgow (Hybrid - 3 days in office) 

PURPOSE OF ROLE 

Lawes is looking for a Senior P&C Underwriter for a dynamic, high-growth insurance business in Glasgow. This role focuses on underwriting SME and mid-market risks while developing strong broker relationships and contributing to team success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Underwrite new and renewal P&C business
  • Build and grow broker relationships across the region
  • Meet financial targets and support retention and growth
  • Represent the business in the local market
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure service excellence

DAY-TO-DAY 

  • Handle complex and mid-market underwriting cases
  • Meet with brokers and clients regularly
  • Use data to support pricing and decision-making
  • Track pipeline and progress toward team goals
  • Share insight and support a high-performing team culture

EXPERIENCE 

  • Strong experience in commercial property & casualty underwriting
  • Confident managing complex or high-value risks
  • Skilled in broker relationship management
  • Solid track record in SME/mid-market portfolios
  • ACII qualified or working towards preferred

SKILLS 

  • Strong technical and trading skills
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator
  • Confident using analytics and underwriting
