Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Road Safety Manager to join their team on a permenant basis

  • Manage teams in the Road Safety team including Data and Engineering and ThinkTravel ensuring a continuously improving service.
  • Take the lead in ensuring that the clients statutory and legislative obligations regarding road safety are met. And working towards targets.
  • Be responsible for the commissioning and project management of road safety schemes undertaken by the business or external companies.
  • Lead the implementation and development of the clients strategies and policies and work towards achieving targets related to Road Safety and ThinkTravel.
  • Lead in working in the Road Safety Partnership including working with Councillors, the Police, Fire and Rescue, Communities and others.
  • Lead the development and production of policy and guidance pertaining to road safety including but not limited to speed limits, active travel, crossings, and community led initiatives
  • Be responsible for schemes and campaigns that encourage active travel and ensure that the team works with other teams and the Road Safety Partnership to achieve this
  • Be responsible for the updating and maintenance of the road traffic collision database including investigating and implementing if approved innovative commercial and bespoke software options to maximise the management of information.
  • Be responsible for the production of annual and ongoing reviews of road traffic collisions. Ensure the implementation of and regularly review the scheme prioritisation process in terms of casualty reduction.
  • Be responsible for the undertaking of road safety studies to assess the viability of scheme proposals and proposed policy.
  • Regularly use and keep up to date with Department for Transport policy, design standards and guidelineseveloping and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
