Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and advocacy services on matters related to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Represent Gloucestershire County Council in court and tribunal hearings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, ensuring compliance with current legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the council to provide comprehensive legal support.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and decision-making.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal developments and best practices.
Person Specification
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Extensive experience in SEND law and advocacy.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., CIMA, CIPD) is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
