Job Purpose: You will support our client by delivering timely, outcomes-focused legal advice. You will work closely with the legal & governance teams to ensure robust and pragmatic legal solutions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Legal Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks within the company.
  • Contract Management: Prepare, negotiate, draft, revise, and finalize various contract documents.
  • Commercial and Procurement Advice: Provide guidance on non-contentious contract, commercial, and procurement issues, including NDAs.
  • Intellectual Property: Advise on intellectual property matters and support external advisers managing the trademark portfolio.
  • Information Governance: Assist the Information Governance team with data governance and FOI matters.
  • Liability and Insurance: Advise on matters relating to liability, including company insurance.
  • Commercial Activities: Support commercial activities such as prize draws, gambling, Advertising Standards, Equality Impact Assessments, and complaint escalations.
  • Corporate Legal Precedents: Develop and maintain corporate legal precedents.
  • Training: Prepare and deliver training in legal matters across the business.
  • External Counsel Management: Collaborate with the Head of Legal and Governance to instruct and manage external counsel and third parties.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor or legal executive with a proven track record in drafting and advising on commercial contracts and procurement.
  • Experience in identifying and managing legal risk across a diverse legal portfolio.
  • Ideally, experience in an in-house environment.
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail, particularly in contractual matters.
  • Team player with a positive and proactive approach, focused on outcomes.
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to work flexibly with colleagues of differing skills and experience.
  • Approachable and able to present legal advice in a plain and concise manner.
