The Role:As Head of English, you will:

Lead the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of the English curriculum across the school.

Teach English to students aged 11-16 with a variety of SEN profiles, including autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.

Manage and mentor English staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing department.

Adapt and differentiate teaching to meet the individual needs and EHCP targets of each pupil.

Monitor student progress and ensure effective assessment and reporting systems are in place.

Work closely with SLT to contribute to whole-school improvement and SEN best practice.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential

Minimum of 7 years' teaching experience, ideally including work in an SEN or inclusive setting

Proven track record of raising standards in English education

Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills

A deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of working with children with SEND

Experience with differentiated instruction and literacy intervention strategies

A genuine passion for inclusive education and learner-centred approaches
